The Story Behind The Photo...
Have you ever felt like you were drowning in life’s demands, only to realize the pressure was actually carving you into something stronger?
I stood at the edge of Ritter Island in Idaho’s Thousand Springs State Park, watching a waterfall burst from the basalt canyon wall. The autumn air was cool and smelled of damp earth and decaying leaves, that rich, sweet scent of seasons changing. The wind carried a fine mist from the falls, clinging to my jacket and lens. It was a constant challenge trying to capture clarity in the middle of all that chaos.
This water has traveled nearly a hundred miles underground, flowing through dark, porous lava rock for decades before finally bursting into the light here in the Hagerman Valley. It is a journey of endurance, unseen and under pressure, until it becomes something spectacular.
As I framed the shot, watching the white water cascade down the dark rock face, I felt a familiar weight lift. I thought of Philippians 4:13, a verse often plastered on sports posters but truly meant for moments like this. It is about finding contentment and strength not in our own power, but through the One who sustains us in every season.
The shutter clicked.
In that frozen moment, the water looked like a veil of pure strength. I realized then that my own struggles weren’t meant to drown me, but to reveal a deeper source of power. Standing there, soaked in mist and awe, I knew that I, too, could pour out freely, strengthened by a source that never runs dry.
📖 Scripture (featured on the artwork):
